Every website has a story. Ours begins with a little girl walking home for lunch on a sunny day, the roar of lorries passing by, singing to herself to feel safe. That girl was me—Michelle. Even at age of six years old, I knew I wanted to be an artist. I didn’t fully understand what it meant, but I knew I needed to create. That dream lived quietly inside me for decades.
Life took its turns, and it wasn’t until my 50s that I finally gave myself permission to become the artist I had always dreamed of being. I made a promise to that little girl—to honor her creativity, her courage, and her voice.
My journey hasn't been easy. I live with Fibromyalgia and ME/CFS—two chronic, often misunderstood illnesses that brought pain, fatigue, and limitation. But through art, I found healing. I found light. I found myself.
For years, I was told when I was about nine that art wasn't for “people like me.” That I couldn’t make it. That I shouldn’t even try. Those words haunted me. But eventually, I broke free from that mindset. I let go of the fear, the doubt, and the need for permission. to forgive them as that was just what they believed not me.
And that changed everything.
